How to compare hood cleaning quotes
Two quotes for the same kitchen can be hundreds of dollars apart. The difference is usually what each one covers.
Six questions to ask every company
- Which parts are included? Ask for the hood, filters, plenum, duct and fan to be listed in writing.
- Do I get before and after photos? Photos are how you know the duct and fan were actually done.
- Will you put a dated sticker on the hood? Inspectors look for it.
- What happens with areas you can't reach? An honest company tells you and doesn't mark them as cleaned.
- Are you insured? Ask for proof before work starts.
- Who does the work? Ask who will be on your roof and what experience they have with commercial exhaust systems.
Watch out for
- Prices that include only the hood and filters
- Claims of "NFPA certification". The NFPA doesn't certify companies.
- No photos, or photos of the shiny hood only
Our answers: every hood job covers the full accessible system, with photos, a sticker and notes on anything not reached. See our prices.
