Pricing and quotes
How much does commercial hood cleaning cost?
Hood cleaning starts at $425 per visit for a single hood up to 8 feet with one exhaust fan, plus HST. Longer hoods, a second hood, extra fans, heavy buildup or difficult roof access add to the price. The pricing page shows a few examples, and you always get the full price before we book.
Is the quote free?
Yes. Call 647-989-3776 or email photos of your hood, filters and exhaust fan to info@hoodmaster.ca. Most kitchens can be quoted from photos and a few details. For larger or unusual systems we may ask to see the system first.
Why are some quotes so much cheaper than others?
Usually because they cover less. A price that includes only the hood and filters is a fraction of the work of one that includes the plenum, the duct and the rooftop fan. Ask every company to list, in writing, which parts are included. Our guide to comparing hood cleaners has a short checklist.
Scheduling and the visit
How long does hood cleaning take?
A typical job takes about 4 to 5 hours with a two-person crew. Larger systems, heavy grease buildup or difficult access can take longer. We give you a time estimate with your quote so you can plan around it.
Can you clean after closing or overnight?
Yes. We clean after hours and overnight, subject to availability, so you don't lose a service. Tell us when you close and when prep starts again, and we schedule inside that window.
Does my kitchen need to stop cooking?
Yes. Everything under the hood has to be off and cooled down before we start, so we work while you're closed. We confirm the exact stop time when we book.
How should I prepare for the appointment?
Clear items off and around the cook line, let the equipment cool, and make sure we can reach the roof. The night-before checklist covers everything in one page.
Do you need roof access?
Yes, to clean the exhaust fan. Let us know if the roof is reached by hatch, ladder or through a landlord or building manager, so access is arranged before the crew arrives.
What happens if part of the system can't be reached?
We clean the accessible parts within the agreed scope and tell you which areas we could not reach. Areas we could not reach are never marked as cleaned. We talk through access options and any follow-up with you.
Standards and paperwork
How often should a commercial hood be cleaned?
NFPA 96 sets the schedule by how you cook: monthly for wood or charcoal, quarterly for high-volume kitchens such as 24-hour, charbroil and wok lines, twice a year for most restaurants, and once a year for low-volume kitchens. See the frequency guide to find your kitchen.
What cleaning standard do you follow?
Our hood and exhaust cleaning is done in accordance with NFPA 96, the standard the Ontario Fire Code and insurers use for commercial kitchen exhaust. The fire code guide explains how it applies in the GTA.
Is there such a thing as an NFPA-certified hood cleaner?
No. The NFPA writes the NFPA 96 standard but does not certify cleaning companies, so be careful with anyone claiming an "NFPA certification". What matters is that the work is done in accordance with NFPA 96, and that you get photos and dated records to prove it.
What proof do I get after the cleaning?
Before and after photos of the work, and a service sticker on the hood showing the date of service and the next recommended date. We also tell you about any areas we could not reach, so your records are accurate.
Will this help with my insurance and fire inspections?
Dated records from each cleaning are what insurers and fire inspectors ask to see, and our photos and sticker give you those records. An inspection looks at your whole kitchen, so no cleaning company can honestly promise a pass, but staying on schedule with records is the part you control.
Are you insured?
Yes. Hoodmaster is a registered Ontario business with commercial liability insurance. Ask for our insurance details when you book and we'll send them.
Services and area
Can I book equipment cleaning at the same visit?
Yes. We can quote equipment deep cleaning with your hood cleaning. Send a list and photos of the equipment so we can confirm the scope and the extra time needed.
Do you offer a filter exchange?
Yes. We can swap your dirty baffle filters for clean ones on a set schedule, between full hood cleanings. See filter cleaning and exchange.
Which areas do you serve?
The whole GTA: Toronto, Peel, Halton, York and Durham, including Mississauga, Brampton, Oakville, Burlington, Milton, Vaughan, Markham, Richmond Hill, Newmarket, Oshawa, Whitby, Ajax and Pickering. See the service area page.
We have locations in more than one city. Can you handle all of them?
Yes. Because we cover all five GTA regions, franchise owners and multi-location operators can keep every location on one schedule with one company.
